Ultra 7 typically has more performance cores (P-cores) compared to Ultra 5, while their efficiency (E-cores) and low-power cores are often similar. For example, the Ultra 7 has 16 cores and 22 threads compared to 5’s 14 cores and 18 threads. More P-cores means Ultra 7 can push harder in multi-threaded workloads like video rendering, software compiling, or simulations.

Ultra 5 still holds its own for lighter multitasking, everyday apps, office work, and simpler content creation tasks. In scenarios where you often push many threads or need high concurrency, Ultra 7 will outperform 5. But for most users, not saturating all cores constantly, the extra cores may not deliver proportional benefit.

Cache & Memory Support

Ultra 7 generally has a larger shared cache compared to Ultra 5. So, if Ultra 7 has 22 MB of L3 cache, then 5 features 18 MB. Also, both support similar types of RAM and memory channel configurations. A larger cache helps with workloads that frequently access the same data, context switching, or when multiple apps are open.

This reduces the time waiting for data from RAM. Ultra 7 will, in many real-world and synthetic benchmark cases, handle heavy loads with less latency or slowdown. The 5 is still solid, but under pressure (like large builds, high resolution video editing), the difference in cache gives 7 a more robust margin.

Power Draw

In many configurations, especially H-series laptops, 7 and 5 share similar TDP and thermal limits. But 7 tends to draw more power when fully taxed because of additional performance cores and higher boost clocks, meaning more heat. Core 5 is comparatively more efficient in lighter loads and may run cooler or more quietly under everyday use.

For users who prioritize battery life, lighter form-factors, or quieter machines, Ultra 5 may offer a better balance. But if you have good cooling, want maximum sustained performance, 7 will perform better under heavy loads. Simply, it trades more heat/power for higher throughput.

Clock Speed & Frequencies

Ultra 7 edges out 5 in both base and boost or turbo clock speeds. For instance, 7 can boost up to about 4.8 GHz on P-cores, while Intel 5 boosts to roughly 4.5 GHz. Higher boost clocks help 7 respond faster in bursty tasks, launching demanding apps, momentary spikes in load, or gaming. Base frequency differences, though less dramatic, mean 7 can sustain performance a little better under moderate load before throttling.

Ultra 5 may lag a bit under those spikes, but still performs well. If your use involves frequent quick bursts, like gaming, switching apps, and creative tools, the Ultra 7 gives smoother responsiveness. If mostly steady workloads, the difference is smaller but still visible.

Graphics & Performance

Ultra 7’s integrated graphics are also a bit better than Ultra 5's in many models. This is because 7 iGPU has 8 Arc cores vs 5’s 7 Arc cores, and slightly higher boost GPU clocks. That means in light to medium gaming, video editing, rendering previews, or GPU-accelerated tasks, 7 gives a noticeable uplift with better frame rates, smoother margins, and fewer dips.

Ultra 5 is still good for casual gaming and everyday GPU work but will lag somewhat behind under more demanding settings. In tasks where iGPU matters, like content editing, improving visuals, and using GPU-accelerated filters, 7 pulls ahead. If you mostly rely on an external GPU anyway or do less GPU load, 5 remains quite valid.
